Weather on March 3, Pekanbaru, Surabaya, to Bali Potentially Heavy Rain

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the weather in major cities in Indonesia will generally be dominated by light to moderate rain, Tuesday, March 3.

BMKG Praktirawan Afif S reported that cities in Sumatra such as Medan, Padang, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang, and Lampung have the potential for light to moderate rain.

Meanwhile, in Aceh the air is hazy, Pekanbaru and Pangkal Pinanv are predicted to be hit by heavy rain accompanied by lightning.

"For Java, light to moderate rain is predicted to occur in Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, and Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, Surabaya will be hit by heavy rain accompanied by lightning," said Afif, quoted by Antara.

Furthermore, for the Bali and Nusa Tenggara regions, said Afif, heavy rain accompanied by lightning is potentially occurring in Bali. Meanwhile, Mataram and Kupang are hit by light to moderate rain.

Meanwhile, on the island of Kalimantan, light to moderate rain is likely to occur in Samarinda and Palangkaraya. Meanwhile, rain accompanied by lightning also needs to be watched out for in the Tanjung Selor and Banjarmasin areas. In fact, cloudy weather is predicted to cover the Pontianak sky.

For the Sulawesi region, cloudy weather is expected in Gorontalo, while light to moderate rain is likely to rain on Makassar, Kendari, Palu, and Manado. Mamuju is predicted to be heavy rain accompanied by lightning.

Finally, in the eastern part of Indonesia, Afif said that the weather was generally predicted to be light to moderate rain, such as in Sorong, Ambon, Manokwari, Ternate, Nabire, Jayapura, and Merauke. Meanwhile, Ternate and Jayawijaya are predicted to be thick clouds.

He reminded the public to remain vigilant against the potential for extreme weather that could occur at any time.

The head of BMKG Teuku Faisal Fathani emphasized that the weather conditions during the Lebaran homecoming period still need to be watched, especially in the first half of March 2026.

In general, the weather during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period is predicted to be dominated by light to moderate rain. However, the potential for heavy rain still needs to be anticipated in a number of areas, especially in Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, to Papua Mountains.
