The Ministry of MSME Disburses Production Assistance to 12 Districts in West Sumatra Affected by the Disaster

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) through the Minang Bangkit UMKM Clinic has strengthened the recovery of business activities in West Sumatra (Sumbar) by distributing production tools and raw materials to UMKM entrepreneurs in 12 districts/cities affected by disasters.

This program encourages the reopening of shops, stalls, cafes, and restaurants as drivers of the local economy.

Deputy for Entrepreneurship of the Ministry of MSME, Siti Azizah, revealed that the distribution of assistance is part of the Production Service which is designed to help MSME entrepreneurs who have stopped their activities due to disasters.

"The Ministry of MSME is at the forefront of efforts to save affected MSME entrepreneurs. The Minang Bangkit MSME Clinic is a recovery space so that entrepreneurs can resume their business and drive the regional economy," said Azizah, Monday, February 9.

Based on SIDT-UMKM, there were 662,242 MSME entrepreneurs in West Sumatra as of October 31, 2025. Meanwhile, data from the West Sumatra Provincial Government through the Disaster Data Dashboard as of January 18, 2026 recorded at least 4,876 MSME entrepreneurs affected by disasters.

Floods and landslides that have hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra since late November 2025 have impacted business capacity, market losses, and production halts. These conditions require a targeted and sustainable recovery step.

"All these challenges must be answered through strengthening production services and assistance that ensure that MSMEs are able to stand up and grow again," said Azizah.

To accelerate recovery, the Minang Bangkit UMKM Clinic operates at the West Sumatra Provincial Cooperative and UMKM Office as a Command Center and Service Center for the recovery of UMKM entrepreneurs after the disaster. This clinic is supported by Bank Indonesia, Sampoerna Entrepreneurship Training Center, PIP, PLUT KUKM West Sumatra, PKN Forum, Indonesian Psychologists Association (HIMPSI) West Sumatra, ABDSI, and other stakeholders through three phases of assistance.

The Mental Recovery phase focuses on psychological recovery and strengthening business motivation. The Business Recovery phase encourages the return of operations through access to financing, capital management, and risk management. The Growing phase is aimed at improving competitiveness through product innovation, marketing strategies, business digitization, and strengthening networks and partnerships.

In its implementation, the recovery was carried out together with 19 partners by distributing a total of 1,140 stoves, 1,040 gas cylinders, 415 packages of production raw materials, 195 cooking equipment, and 10,000 bags of cement. Distribution is carried out gradually in various affected areas.

On January 22-23, 2026, 100 stoves and gas cylinders were distributed to Padang and Padang Pariaman. Entrepreneurs in the South Coast received 115 stoves, gas cylinders, and packages of production raw materials, while Agam Regency received 250 stoves and gas cylinders and 300 packages of production raw materials.

Furthermore, on February 3-4, 2026, Solok City and Solok Regency each received 100 stoves and gas cylinders, as well as an additional 40 cooking equipment distributed to Agam and Padang Pariaman.

In the third phase, which was carried out on February 9, 2026, the MSME entrepreneurs received assistance and assistance in business equipment, including 75 cooking equipment for Padang and 40 cooking equipment for the South Coast. The assistance in the form of stoves and gas cylinders was given to Pariaman and Tanah Datar, 100 packages each, and Padang Pariaman, 150 packages.

The distribution of this assistance involves collaboration with BRI, United Tractors, Grab Indonesia, PLN, BSI, Goto, PNM, Bank Indonesia, Pegadaian, BNI, Semen Padang, Semen Padang Distributor, Semen Indonesia, Eka Tjipta Foundation, Telkom Witel Sumbar-Jambi, Podomoro, Dian Nuswantoro University, and Aman Abadi Nugraha.

In addition to production assistance, recovery services also include trauma healing through psychological counseling with the Indonesian Psychology Association and Andalas University, spiritual support by involving religious figures, as well as assistance for financing and business recovery.

"Our hope is that West Sumatra's MSME entrepreneurs can rise and grow again, become a regional economic force as well as a symbol of the nation's resilience in the face of disasters," said Azizah.
