COVID-19 Task Force Chairman Ensures Athletes' Homes Are Ready To Anticipate A Surge In Post-Eid Cases

JAKARTA - Head of BNPB (National Agency for Disaster Management) and Chairman of the COVID-19 Task Force, Lt. Gen. Ganip Warsito, conducted a field trip to the COVID-19 Emergency Hospital Wisma Atlet, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, May 26.

This visit was the first since Ganip was appointed head of BNPB replacing Lt. Gen. Doni Monardo.

Ganip's arrival at Wisma Atlet Hospital to ensure the readiness of personnel and devices including facilities and supporting facilities to deal with the potential spike in COVID cases after the Eid holidays.

Considering that from May 18 to May 26, 2021, the Task Force identified an increase in cases averaging above 100 cases per day.

"From the conclusion of direct monitoring in the field, I make sure that the RSDC personnel and supporting devices are ready for the possibility of the surge", Ganip said at a press conference on Wednesday, May 26.

Ganip said The Task Force has made efforts ranging from banning homecoming and restrictions micro.

"We expect no spike. We hope that one week in the future (COVID-19, red) can go down", he said.

Ganip added that in the capacity of medical personnel, volunteers, and medicines at Wisma Atlet Hospital is ready to face the possibility of a spike in COVID-19 cases after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

"We are ready to anticipate for the next two months", he said.
