The Case Of Israeli-Palestinian Hoax Teacher, Riza Patria: Don't Participate In Politics, Just Be A Good Educator

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Riza Patria confirmed that he had reprimanded a teacher who spread hoaxes or false news about Israeli-Palestinians. In fact, the teacher was asked not to participate in politics.

"The provincial government through Disdik has reprimanded the concerned. Anyone we ask let alone a teacher, civil servants please pay attention to the regulation, SOP, information, ethics, attitude, behavior, should be an example", Riza told reporters, Wednesday, May 26.

Riza also insisted that a teacher or civil servant should not participate in politics or comment on things that are not the domain of her work. Because it will have a negative impact. For example, it will only lead to conflicts that divide the union.

"No need to take care including commenting on what is not the territory. It's not his authority", Riza said.

"Political affairs do not need to be taken care of by teachers. The teacher's job is to educate, other matters are also not necessary. So I

ask that the teacher's business is nothing but to be a good educator", he continued.

Public Relations Office of DKI, Taga Radja Gah, previously mentioned that the teacher who spread the hoax news has been called by the Civil Servant Work Performance Assessment (PPK) team.

The teacher admitted his actions were wrong and regretted them. Although, his defense only forwarded the information he obtained and there was no intention of insulting the President.

'It turns out that he regrets very well that it's not true. He has no intention of insulting the President. Second, it's not his writing, but he's just sharing it. In essence, he did it improperly and admitted it was inappropriate", Taga explained.

Regarding sanctions, Taga said it is being processed. "For the sanctions to be processed again, which is clear that coaching is certain, will be called related services", he added.
