PBNU Conflict, Gus Yahya Emphasizes The Importance Of Organizational Orders

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Yahya Cholil Staquf emphasized that the main issue in the internal dynamics of the current organization is obedience to the organizational order.

He said the neglect of the system that had been built would take PBNU back far, even before NU was established.

"If this organizational order is ignored, then it is a century backwards. Back to the era before NU was established," said Gus Yahya as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 11.

He reminded how KH Hasyim Asy'ari, the founder of NU, before the organization was founded, had the authority of an unbounded Maha Kiai among scholars.

However, when NU was formed, he said, KH Hasyim Asy'ari actually accepted the restriction of authority through the organizational structure and AD/ART.

The Nahdlatul Ulama organization was founded. Then there, Kiai Hasyim Asy'ari was appointed to Rais Akbar's position. Then an AD / ART for the Nahdlatul Ulama organization was created. And in the AD / ART there are provisions limiting Rais Akbar's authority," he said.

"If you absolutely have the authority, you don't have to make an organization, it's just an absolute," said Gus Yahya.

He considered efforts to return to pre-organization conditions as a step back which actually ignored the principles that had been agreed upon by the founders of NU.

In addition to emphasizing the importance of organizational discipline, Yahya said that the resolution of internal problems cannot be done unilaterally. According to him, the best solution is to hold the congress together.

"There is no way out other than together. Let's have a meeting together. So that the congress is over, everything will be finished. There are no more problems," he said.

Gus Yahya admits that there have been many problems that have arisen in the dynamics of organization lately. However, he believes that all differences can be resolved if all parties are willing to follow the process collectively and constitutionally.

"There must be problems. Let's solve those problems. What can't be resolved before the congress, so just finish it at the congress. We can, we can solve it," he said.

Regarding the termination of the General Chair, he said, it could only be carried out through an extraordinary congress or congress. The Sharia Daily Meeting, including the Plenary Meeting, cannot be used as a basis for stopping the PBNU Ketum for violating organizational regulations.
