BGN Admits Replacement Driver Drives MBG Car That Hits Students At SDN Kalibaru

JAKARTA The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) together with the North Jakarta Nutrition Program Implementing Unit (SPPG) revealed new facts regarding the incident of a Free Nutrition Food Transport (MBG) that hit a student at SDN Kalibaru 01, Cilincing, North Jakarta. The driver of the vehicle turned out to be not a permanent driver, but a substitute driver.

The head of the North Jakarta SPPG, Sahrul Gunawan Siregar, explained that the vehicle is under the management of the Darul Esti Foundation, including the placement of drivers. Meanwhile, Deputy Head of BGN for Operations for Fulfillment of Nutrition, Sony Sonjaya, said that his party immediately coordinated with schools, police, and health facilities to ensure that the handling of victims was carried out quickly. He emphasized that all maintenance costs are borne by BGN.

"The cost of treating all the victims is borne by us, and they are placed in class 1 of the hospital," he said.

Sony added that the MBG Program is still running, but a thorough evaluation is underway. BGN conducts an internal evaluation to prevent the recurrence of this incident. This incident did not hinder the operation and service of MBG," he explained.

It is known, a MBG transport car with police number B 2093 UIU broke through the school fence and hit a number of students who were preparing to take part in weekly literacy activities at SDN Kalibaru 01 field, Thursday morning at around 06.39 WIB. At the time of the incident, hundreds of students had sat in the field.

The incident left 21 people injured, consisting of 20 students and one teacher. The victims were immediately evacuated to the nearest health facility. Most of them were treated at the Cilincing Hospital and the local health center, while five others, including one teacher, received treatment at the Koja Hospital.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing under police handling.
