YouTube Expands A/B Testing Features, Can Test Many Titles And Video Thumbnails

JAKARTA YouTube announced the expansion of the A/B testing feature which now includes not only thumbnails, but also video titles. Creators can even test more than one title and thumbnail.

In Google's help page, YouTube explains that this expansion allows creators to test up to three combinations of titles and thumbnails. This testing only applies to long videos.

This feature is available to all creators who already have access to advanced features on their channels. This testing expansion is designed to help creators optimize their content performance more deeply.

YouTube says that the combination of titles or thumbnails will be evenly uploaded with a maximum of two weeks. Once testing is complete, this tool will analyze and implement options that generate the highest Watch Time automatically.

There are three possible results that the tool will provide after testing. If you get the 'Winning' result, this shows another version that also produces better Watch Time per show.

Next, there is the 'Same Performance' result which indicates that all the options tested produce a similar percentage of watch time, with no significant difference. If the results are inconclusive, the first title or thumbnail uploaded will be a default display.

This title testing feature is currently only available on the desktop version of YouTube Studio and can only be used for long public videos, live streaming archives, or podcast episodes. This feature does not apply to videos that are tagged as 'Created for Children' or private videos.
