Puan Maharani Says People Suffer When State Money Is Misappropriated

YOGYAKARTA - DPR Speaker Puan Maharani said the public was the party who was the most harmed when there was misappropriated state money.

This statement was conveyed by Puan through a video that was screened at the Seminar Anti-Corruption: Women's Integrity as A State Organizer Against Corruption in a series of commemorations of World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) 2025 today, December 8.

Puan said that misappropriation of state money has a broad impact on all aspects of people's lives.

"When state money is misappropriated, it is the people who suffer the most, from collapsed schools, expensive drugs to stagnant public services," said Puan in the video.

Puan emphasized that World Anti-Corruption Day should also be an alarm for all parties to act to eradicate chaotic practices. No exception for women who have a strategic role.

"Women play a strategic role in building an anti-corruption culture as mothers, women, wives, and professionals," he said.

She also referred to women as bulwarks to form the value of honesty. "That's why I remind all Indonesian women, dare to stand at the forefront of fighting corruption," said Puan.

"With the small steps, the integrity we take will bring Indonesia one step closer to creating clean and just governance," he added.

This activity was also attended by a number of female figures. Among them were the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifatul Choiri Fauzi to the Chairman of Commission IV DPR Siti Hediyanti Hariyadi or Titiek Suharto.
