Ponpes Ali Maksum DIY Express Support For PBNU Plenary Discusses Replacement Of General Chair
JAKARTA Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes) Ali Maksum Krapyak, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), expressed full support for the implementation of the plenary meeting of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board which is scheduled to take place on December 9, 2025. The pleno plans to discuss strategic issues, including the discourse on changing the General Chairperson of PBNU.
This support was conveyed through the official letter of the Head of the Caretaker of the Islamic Boarding School Ali Maksum Krapyak, KH Khoirul Fuad Ahmad, who emphasized that PBNU as the top leader of Jam'iyyah must be protected from all forms of interest that can harm the organization.
"We provide full support for the PBNU Plenary on December 9, 2025, to take steps for the good of all. PBNU must be maintained so that it remains upright, focused, and avoids greater harm for Nahdliyin organizations and residents," said Khoirul in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday.

Ponpes Ali Maksum also highlighted the internal polemic regarding a number of decisions taken by the General Chair of PBNU, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya). The polemic is considered necessary to obtain clarity through the legal organizational mechanism.
The Krapyak Islamic Boarding School assessed that the plenary meeting was the right constitutional forum to unravel the issue and set strategic steps to maintain organizational stability, including if a decision was needed regarding the change of chairman.
The attitude of pesantren is in the spotlight because Gus Yahya is an alumnus of the Islamic educational institution. However, KH Khoirul Fuad Ahmad emphasized that support was given not on the basis of personal closeness, but for the benefit of Jam'iyyah.
"Regarding the polemic that occurred in PBNU, hopefully soon we will find the best way whatever the situation is. There must be effective management for the benefit of Jam'iyyah and Nahdliyin residents, as well as the nation and state," said Khoirul.
With this support, Ponpes Ali Maksum hopes that the PBNU plenary meeting can take place properly, objectively, and oriented towards organizational and community interests.
