Cibagolo River Wall Broken, Sukaraja Bogor Residents Settlement Flooded

JAKARTA - Floods inundated residential areas in Pasir Jambu Village, Sukaraja District, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Friday afternoon.

The flood occurred after the retaining wall (TPT) in the Cibagolo River broke down due to the long rain.

Head of the Bogor Regency BPBD Emergency and Logistics Division, M Adam Hamdani, explained that the flood occurred at around 15.00 WIB and was first reported by residents half an hour later.

"The rain that fell for a long time caused the blockage of the river flow, then the TPT broke and the water entered people's homes," he said, Friday, December 5, which was confiscated by Antara.

The incident occurred in RT 03 and RT 02 RW 10, Pasir Jambu Village. The BPBD Rapid Response Team (TRC) was immediately dispatched to the location to conduct rapid assessments, data collection, and initial handling.

In RT 03, it was recorded that one house was moderately damaged by Yusup, which was inhabited by a family of five people. The kitchen and bedroom parts were reported to have been damaged due to flooding.

Still in RT 03, two other houses suffered minor damage. The house belonging to Bardatun (1 KK / 3 people) collapsed in the central room because the water channel was driven by flooding. Meanwhile, Zaenal Muttaqin's house (1 KK / 5 people) was also affected even though it was still under construction.

A total of 15 housing units in RT 03 were affected by inundation with various levels of damage. Meanwhile, in RT 02, eight houses belonging to 8 families or 27 people were flooded but did not experience structural damage.

BPBD reported that there were no casualties, residents evacuated, or public facilities affected by this incident. All residents remain in their respective homes.

The Bogor Regency BPBD TRC together with village officials, Bhabinkamtibmas, the Bogor City Damkar, and elements of the local RT/RW carried out material cleaning and providing disaster education to residents.

Adam said that the area often experiences flooding during heavy rains. Every time it rains heavily, this area is repeatedly inundated. Normalization of river flows is an urgent need not to keep repeating itself," he said.

Currently, the water has receded and some of the flood materials in residents' houses have been cleaned. However, BPBD assesses that further handling of the relevant agencies is still needed, especially the repair of TPT and waterways.
