Prabowo Plans To Build A National Sports Center Of 500 Hectares

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that a country that excels in the field of sports is a nation with a strong spirit.

"The nation that excels in sports is a nation that has a strong soul. Remember that," Prabowo said in a speech ahead of the release of Thailand's 33rd SEA Games contingent at the State Palace, Jakarta, Friday, which was confiscated by Antara.

Prabowo said that sport is a symbol of life. According to him, sport is a reflection of the values of soldiers who are tough, brave, disciplined, and honor.

In Olympic history, Prabowo continued, sports such as running, throwing javelins, archery to horse symbolizes the spirit of the knights.

In order to strengthen the foundation of national sports, Prabowo has a big plan, namely to build an internationally integrated sports center.

"I have planned that we will build a large sports center, I ask for around a minimum of 500 hectares (Ha) of the center (of sports). There is no sports center that is 5 hectares, no 8 hectares, there we will build State of the Art later," he said.

These facilities can later be used by prospective athletes from various regions. The government will also bring in the best coaches and provide guidance from an early age.

This long-term development will start at the age of 8, with the concept of a sustainable national training center as a forum for producing young talents.

"Now is the SEA Games, later the Asean Games, yes the Olympics, but we also think further, in the long term. I believe that with coaching like this, 300 million (residents) will certainly give birth to many heroes, young heroes who will raise names, raise the good name of the Indonesian nation," said Prabowo.
