Deputy Governor of DKI Riza Patria: Overcoming Floods Is Not As Easy As Turning Hands, It Takes Time
JAKARTA - Some areas in Jakarta are flooded due to rain that fell from the afternoon until the evening yesterday, even when entering the dry season.
Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Riza Patria admitted that there will always be inundation in the capital after heavy rains. Meanwhile, flooding occurs if the volume of water drops in large quantities. However, it is important how long the flooding can recede.
"Flooding is relative if puddles exist. In Jakarta, there are indeed puddle points, which is if there is rain. But, most importantly how long the inundation can recede or the flood can recede", Riza said at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, May 25.

Riza claims the inundation point in Jakarta is now decreasing. However, there are still several locations that are inundated even flooded when the rain arrives.
"It is not as easy as turning the palm. It takes time, it takes to process, it needs financing", Riza said.
To be sure, he said, the efforts of the DKI provincial government in controlling the impact of floods and inundation are quite consistent. Like water, pumping is always done when an area is hit by flooding.
"We saw yesterday's flooding one day finished, the inundation receded rapidly. The rainy season, there are puddles at some point, but most importantly it's not long and not big", he said.
Known, several areas in Jakarta were hit by heavy rains for several hours on Monday, May 24, night. As a result, several roads have been flooded.
Until this morning at 06.00 WIB, there are still as many as 14 neighboring pillars (RT) in East Jakarta and South Jakarta that are still flooded. 3 RT is located in Kampung Melayu and 11 RT in Jati Padang Village.
