Will Free Citizens' Land For River Normalization, Pramono: Soon It Will Be Heboh

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will begin the process of land acquisition for residents along the river in order to continue the normalization of the Ciliwung and Krukut rivers.

From that process, Pramono predicts land acquisition will not run smoothly. This will cause turmoil in the people affected by land acquisition.

"I have decided, to normalize Krukut River, Ciliwung normalization will continue. There will definitely be a stir soon," Pramono said at a Townhall Meeting with sub-district heads and village heads throughout Jakarta, Wednesday, December 3.

Pramono did not rule out the possibility that there were still residents who did not agree that their land would be acquired because they did not want to move or they did not agree with the costs paid by the DKI Provincial Government. However, Pramono asked the residents' understanding to support this program.

"Yes, it's called normalization, there are things that need to be moved, some have their land acquired. But it doesn't have to be done. Because if not, then the impact for Jakarta will also be longer," said Pramono.

The DKI Provincial Government has prepared a budget of IDR 232 billion for land acquisition in Cililitan and Pengadegan Villages so that Ciliwung normalization can run. A total of 37 land parcels in Cililitan and 54 fields in Pengadegan are targeted to be worked on next year.

"Thus, hopefully the preparations that have been carried out from an early age will be able to make Jakarta anticipate learning from events where are currently not only in Indonesia but even floods in Europe that are beyond expectations," explained Pramono.

With this regard, Pramono mentioned the potential for hydrometeorological disasters in Jakarta during the rainy season at the end of this year. Based on the prediction of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), rainfall in Jakarta will increase in the second week of December 2025 to January 2026.

Therefore, Pramono asked his staff, especially the sub-district head and village head as the extension of government officials in the region to prepare for the impact of flooding.

"As sub-district head, as village head, where you are, if there is a channel that is not good, immediately report it. Whether it is your responsibility or is the responsibility of the Water Resources Service, and so on, must be coordinated immediately," said Pramono.
