Flying To Sumatra, Minister Of Transportation Dudy Checks Directly For Improvement Of Transportation Simpuls In Aceh And Medan
JAKARTA - Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi directly inspected a number of transportation nodes affected by floods and landslides in Sumatra. The visit was made to two main points, namely Medan City in North Sumatra and Lhokseumawe City in Aceh.
Dudy said that his party coordinated with a number of stakeholders to discuss the improvement of transportation facilities and infrastructure that were damaged in the North Sumatra region. This step is important to ensure smooth mobility of the community and distribution of goods in the midst of an emergency situation.
He said, the Ministry of Transportation has also deployed KN Berhala and alerted five small-dimensional aircraft to distribute aid, especially to remote areas.
"One thing that is no less important is that our presence here is also to seek to improve transportation facilities and infrastructure damaged by the disaster, so that it can run smoothly," said Dudy in an official statement, Tuesday, December 2.
In Medan, Dudy visited Belawan Port where the Hala KN was anchored belonging to the Belawan Class I Navigation District (Disnav), which transports logistical assistance from the Ministry of Transportation and various parties for disaster victims in the North Sumatra region and its surroundings.
"The process of transporting logistics to the ship went smoothly, so that it could be immediately distributed to affected areas," he said.
After visiting Belawan Harbor, Dudy headed to Medan Station using an inspection train. He also had time to check the repair of the Medan-Binjai railway line which collapsed after the flood some time ago.
The improvement of the railway line continues to be carried out in stages, while still paying attention to the safety of workers and weather conditions. I hope that the repair process at all affected points can run smoothly, so that train travel can return to normal as usual," explained Dudy.
Dudy then left for Lhokseumawe to inspect Malikus Saleh Airport and Krueng Geukueh Port. According to him, airport operations in North Sumatra and Aceh generally run normally.
"However, access to several airports, such as FL Tobing Airport and Rembele Airport, was hampered by floods and landslides," he said.
In addition, Dudy ensured that the UPT Kemenhub offices in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra would continue to operate despite being affected by the disaster.
