Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Asks People Not To Overreact To Palestinian Issues
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, asked the public not to overreact when holding solidarity actions against Palestinians. Moreover, currently, the COVID-19 pandemic is still happening in the country.
According to him, support that should be positive should not disturb public order and ignore health protocols.
"I ask the public to respond proportionately, no exaggeration. Considering we ourselves are also in a concerned atmosphere that is how we strive to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak with all its impacts", Muhadjir said through his written statement, Monday, May 24.
In addition, Muhadjir also reminded us that the public is careful in making donations to help Palestinians.
Muhadjir asked that the donation should be channeled through an official body or institution that has been licensed or the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The reason is that there is no misuse or misappropriation of humanitarian social assistance funds from Indonesians for Palestinians. "We must also make sure the donations are really on target and nothing is being used by those who are not responsible", said the former Minister of Education and Culture.
"The momentum in which the community is encouraged because of its empathy, the sense of cooperation then issued the aids so as not to be used by those who are not responsible", added Muhadjir.

Previously, Indonesia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has ensured that the Indonesian Government's support for the Struggle of the Palestinian people for independence is the mandate of the constitution. The mandate refers to the opening of the 1945 Constitution, namely that colonization of the world should be abolished because it is not by humanity and justice.
In an offline meeting in front of the 67th United Nations General Assembly session in New York some time ago attended by 103 countries, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi affirmed Indonesia's stance on the Palestinian issue.
"In my statement, I affirm one question we must ask ourselves, which is how much longer we will let the crime continue. We all understand that this conflict is asymmetrical, which is between Israel as occupiers, and the occupied Palestinians and the continuously oppressed", Retno said.
"I emphasize that colonization in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the main issue. So again, the main issue is colonization. The international community owes it to the Palestinian people, which is an independence of the Palestinian people that continues to be delayed to be side by side and equal to all of us", she added.
