Rehabilitation Of Ira Puspadewi Et Al Not Only Slapping The KPK But For The Panel Of Judges

JAKARTA - Former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Praswad Nugraha assessed that the rehabilitation given by President Prabowo Subianto to three former directors of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) was a sign of slow death in an effort to eradicate corruption. This incident is called a slap for a number of parties.

The three former directors who received rehabilitation from President Prabowo Subianto were Ira Puspadewi as former Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry; former Director of Planning and Development of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Harry Muhammad Adhi Caksono, and former Commercial and Service Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry.

They have been convicted in alleged corruption in business cooperation (KSU) and the acquisition of PT Jembatan Nusantara by PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) on Thursday, November 20.

"This is a slap not only for the KPK as an investigator, investigator, and public prosecutor but also for the panel of judges who have decided the case based on the facts of the trial," Praswad said in a written statement to reporters, Wednesday, November 26.

Praswad also mentioned the rehabilitation mechanism for the three former directors as a form of eye-to-eye intervention.

"Rehabilitation mechanisms that should be the right to recovery for prisoners who have completed their criminal period are now being misused to cancel the court's decision which is still ongoing or has just obtained permanent legal force," he said.

"This action is an open-minded intervention from the executive to the judiciary, destroying the trias of politics as the basic foundation of a democratic country," he continued.

In the future, Praswad said that Prabowo's rehabilitation could have a systemic impact. Including related to the deterrent effect that should arise for perpetrators of corruption.

"This sends clear signals to all business people, bureaucrats, and politicians that the law can be negotiated as long as it has access and closeness to power," he said.

As previously reported, President Prabowo Subianto signed the granting of rehabilitation for three parties involved in the alleged corruption of business cooperation (KSU) and the acquisition of PT Jembatan Nusantara by PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry. They are Ira Puspadewi as former Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry; former Director of Planning and Development of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Harry Muhammad Adhi Caksono, and former Commercial and Service Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry.

The decision was conveyed by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad in a press statement with Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya at the Presidential office, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 25.

"From the results of communication with the government, thank God there are today, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto has signed a letter of rehabilitation for the three names," he said.

Meanwhile, Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu stated that he respects the provision of rehabilitation for Ira Puspadewi, et al. The three of them are known to have been convicted by the Jakarta Corruption Court regarding the alleged corruption in the acquisition and business cooperation (KSU) of PT Jembatan Nusantara on Thursday, November 20.

"KPK respects the rehabilitation decision given by the President as the prerogative of the President to the three directors of PT ASDP," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday night, November 25.

Asep further emphasized that the KPK has carried out its duties in investigating allegations of corruption committed by Ira et al. Investigators, investigators and public prosecutors who handle this case formally, our work has been tested with pretrial submissions and we have also passed it," he said.

"This means that formally what investigators and investigators do does not violate the law," continued Asep, who also serves as Director of KPK Investigation.
