2 Convicts Of Terrorism Kalida Lampung Prison Pledge Loyalty To The Republic Of Indonesia, Kalapas Calls Its Own Initiative

JAKARTA - As many as two convicts (convicts) of terrorism at the Class IIA Kalianda Correctional Institution (Lapas), South Lampung took an oath of allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

The head of the Class II A Kalianda prison, Beni Nurrahman, said that the pledge made by the two convicts was not coercion, but based on the wishes and awareness of the inmates.

"The loyalty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is not only symbolic, but also marks a change in the mindset and attitude of the Napiters, which of course goes through a long and consistent process in coaching," he said in South Lampung, Friday, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the pledge is one indicator of the decrease in the level of risk for terrorism convicts, as well as a significant achievement of the coaching process carried out by the Correctional.

Therefore, he expressed his appreciation to the ranks of Class IIA Kalianda Prisons and related agencies who have synergized and played an active role in facilitating and bridging the deradicalization process.

"This success cannot be separated from collaborative work and a human-valued and professional approach from officers and strategic partners," he said.

He continued his pledge of allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia which had been carried out by the two inmates was the first step for the follow-up coaching program so that the inmates could again contribute positively to the community.

"After re-noising to the Republic of Indonesia, you are not only free from negative influences, but also free from the meaning of life, ready to be empowered, work, contribute, and become a new human being for the nation and unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.

Meanwhile, representatives from the Head of Regional Office of the Director General of Lampung, Agus Wahono, also gave appreciation to the Class II A Kalianda Prison which could bring these terrorism convicts to Pledge Loyalty to the Republic of Indonesia.

Therefore, he emphasized the importance of inter-institutional synergy in dealing with terrorism convicts to return to the Republic of Indonesia.

"The handling of criminal acts of terrorism cannot be done alone. A strong collaboration between BNPT, the Directorate General of Corrections, and other partners is the main key in the process of deradicalization and social reintegration," he said while

He emphasized that his commitment to continue to support efforts to foster, restore and reintegrate Napiters to the community properly based on applicable legal values.
