Youth In Bali Drowns In Mengning Falls

BULELENG - A young man named Gede Angga Putra Pratama (15) from Banjar Dinas Tegal, Mengning Village, Buleleng Regency, Bali, drowned while bathing in the Mengingning waterfall, in Buleleng Regency.

Head of Denpasar Search and Rescue Office I Nyoman Sidakarya said the incident began when the victim took a bath with two other people, unexpectedly drowning. Two people were rescued at that time, but unfortunately one victim could not be found.

"The report was received at 13.40 WITA from Perbekel Mengning Village, someone drowned at around 12.00 WITA," said Sidakarya in a written statement, Thursday, November 20.

Following up on the report requesting SAR assistance, seven Buleleng Search and Rescue Post personnel were dispatched.

The distance to the location of the incident was quite far from the Buleleng Search and Rescue Post, approximately two hours. Arriving at the Mengning waterfall, the team coordinated to determine the search pattern.

In addition to using aqua eye, two divers were also deployed.

"Three dives have been carried out with a depth of approximately six meters. So far, the victim has not been found and the search is planned to continue tomorrow morning," he said.
