KKP Calls Seaweed Interested Investors At Investment And Business Matching
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) revealed that the seaweed and salt sector is in demand by investors in Investment and Business Matching which will be held in Jakarta as part of a series of commemoration of National Fish Day.
"Regarding investment interest, the most are indeed seaweed. Seaweed, that's the most," said Plt. Director General of Strengthening Competitiveness for Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) KKP Machmud reported by ANTARA, Thursday, November 20.
According to Machmud, the seaweed sector is extraordinary because it can not only be used for food, but also for non-food.
Indonesia itself is a seaweed country with nearly 1,000 types of seaweed in Indonesia.
The foreign investors who are interested in investing in the Indonesian seaweed sector are the Netherlands.
Regarding downstreaming, derivative products from seaweed themselves are very diverse, such as straws where straw raw materials have started to no longer use plastic but use seaweed.
In addition to seaweed, Machmud also said that the salt sector is also in demand by investors in Investment and Business Matching activities.
"Regarding salt, we are targeting to carry out self-sufficiency in salt in 2027. So it turns out that with such a policy, many investors are interested in being able to invest in Indonesia," he said.
