Snapchat Launches Topic Chat Feature, Can Discuss Publicly

JAKARTA Snapchat changed its trademark through the launch of Topic Chat. Previously, this platform had the characteristics of private conversations, but now its platform supports public discussion.

Snap, the company that oversees Snapchat, has stated that this change is based on its community habits in recent times. The Snapchat community now tends to publicly comment on trending topics.

This feature will appear in various parts of the application. Users will see Topic Chat shortcuts, in search, on the Story page, and on the Spotlight video. Users can join the conversation easily.

"Over the coming weeks, Snapchatter in Canada, New Zealand, and the US will start seeing Topic Chats appear," Snapchat said, quoted on Wednesday, November 19. "We're really excited to see what the Snapchat community is saying about everything, from F1 to Below Deck."

To use this feature, users only need to search for a large yellow button that says 'Job to Chat' in the Story and Spotlight section. After that, tap on the button to log in, then explore the video in it to join the chat.

Snapchat stated that it will prioritize security and privacy in this new feature. The company will moderate Topic Chat to ensure the chat is safe and appropriate for their entire community.

In addition, to maximize security, the user profile will remain private from people who are not friends. This aims to protect users from unwanted requests for friendship or direct messages.
