European Union Confirms West Bank Aneksasi Violates International Law And Damages Two-State Solutions

JAKARTA - Senior European officials confirmed on Tuesday that the annexation of the West Bank by Israeli occupation authorities was a violation of international law and undermined the Two-State Solution.

Speaking in Brussels, Belgium, EU spokesman Anouar El Anouni, said in a meeting with Palestinian media delegations at the headquarters of the European Commission, the European Union was closely monitoring developments in the West Bank, including violations committed by the invaders, construction of colonial settlements, confiscation of land, and demolition of houses.

He stressed that what happened in the West Bank was unacceptable and a major disaster, and would damage the two-state solution, adding that West Bank annexation was a violation of international law.

He further noted that the detention of Palestinian Authority tax revenue by Israel resulted in the collapse of services provided by the Palestinian Authority.

Anouni stressed the need for disbursement of tax revenues to empower the Palestinian Authority and ensure its capabilities are functioning, while noting the European Union has approved aid packages and played an important role as the biggest supporter in various fields.

He added that the European Union had proposed several punitive measures to deal with the violence perpetrated by the colony, and confirmed sanctions had been imposed on nine colonies and five colony entities, three of which were in April 2024 and two in July of the same year.
