Decades Of Living With Scoliosis, Citra Scholastika Finds A Way Of Healing Without Surgery

JAKARTA Singer Citra Scholastika brings shocking news about her health condition. This Indonesian Idol dropout revealed that she has lived with a skoliosis for decades, an abnormality in her spine, which she has suffered since she was in high school (SMA).

Through the Starpro YouTube channel, Citra shared her long journey, ranging from early signs, surprising diagnosis, to finally finding a glimmer of hope for healing beyond the path of operation.

"That's actually high school. So when I was in high school, I started to feel like I had a little different bones," said Citra Scholastika starting the story.

Initial suspicions about the condition of his bones arise from his unusual sleep habits. His curved sleeping position made his brothers call him shrimp-like.

"My brothers and sisters are used to it, right, if for example, eh, it's boring in the room, we like it like, 'Why are you sleeping like a shrimp?' That's it,' recalls Citra.

However, he only received an official diagnosis in 2014, when he was in his early 20s. Ironically, his skoliosis condition was revealed when he underwent an examination for lung problems. The doctor who treated him at that time found surprising facts.

"One of the doctors I said, 'Does Citra know about citra spoliosis?'... the doctor explained that my bones were bent," he said.

"I think the twists are at least just 'difficult' at most. It turns out that the kinks are really S backwards," added the "Everyone Knew" singer.

After the diagnosis was enforced, Citra had time to try using a brace or body support. However, this method is felt very uncomfortable and disturbing him, especially with his busy schedule as a singer.

"At that time I finally used a brace, but I didn't come back again, I wasn't consistent because it was tiring, I couldn't sleep," he explained.

Another option the doctor offers is surgery, an option he decides not to take.

Over the years, Citra chose to make peace with her condition and continue her activities as if there were no problems. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has become a turning point for her. The increase in weight during the quarantine period made the pain due to the spoliosis worse.

Until finally the pandemic, it was getting worse, I started to feel more and more sick when I was active, in singing and playing. I'm always tired, I'm really tired when I'm busy," he said.

The increasingly disturbing pain eventually prompted the 32-year-old singer to look for alternative treatment methods. He also found a suitable therapy and began to show positive results slowly.

Now, Citra feels a significant change in her daily activities. The comfort she had lost is now starting to feel again, proving that there are expectations beyond invasive operations.

"I'm getting more comfortable, I'm standing, I'm sleeping, yes, like I shared earlier, that the small improvement turned out to have a huge impact," he concluded with gratitude.
