The Rise Of Illegal Botulinum Toxine Injections, Doctors And BPOM Ask The Public To Be Alert
JAKARTA - Toxine botulinum is a neurotoxine used for drugs to treat various medical and cosmetic conditions. In medicine, botulinum toxine is used to reduce wrinkles, chronic migraines, and muscle disorders such as spasme and dystonia.
In use for cosmetics, botulinum toxins are often used for Botox, to reduce face wrinkles temporarily, by relaxing the surrounding muscles.
However, with the growing popularity of the use of botulinum toxine, illegal circulation is also increasingly widespread. This is worrying because illegal toxic products can be harmful to the health of the body.
"Toxine works by blocking acetylcoin measurably, so muscles cannot contract. If the toxine is unstable, the protein will change shape, so it is ineffective or triggers an immune reaction," said dermatologist, dr. Anesia Tania, SpDVE, FINSDV, in the SCBD area, Jakarta, recently.
In addition, cases of infection and allergies after injection of illegal botulin toxine also often occur. If the patient experiences side effects, the desired percentage of results can decrease significantly.
Patients may need to be injected frequently, but this is not recommended because the body will recognize the content and form immunity, reduce the effectiveness of the action.

Through this authenticity campaign, we are committed to building a safe and reliable distribution system with the Indonesian medical community," explained Baik In Hyun.
