FSB Thwarts Terrorist Attack Plan Against Russian High-ranking Officials
JAKARTA - The Federal Security Service (FSB) managed to thwart a terrorist attack on a top Russian official, an explosion planned to be carried out at the graves of its loved ones at a cemetery in Moscow using a video camera hidden inside a flower vassel, the agency said.
Three people involved in the plan a couple from Russia and a migrant from the Central Asian state have been arrested, the FSB said.
"The Federal Security Service has thwarted a terrorist act planned by the Ukrainian special service against one of Russia's top officials when it visited the grave of a close relative at the Troyekurovskye Cemetery," the FSB said, without identifying the official, to TASS as quoted November 14.
According to the agency, Ukraine's security services recruited an illegal migrant from Central Asia, two Russian drug addicts who were previously convicted and detained in Moscow, and Shamso Jaloliddin Kurbanovich, born in 1979 and living in Kyiv, who is wanted in Russia on charges of murder and illegal arms trafficking.
The FSB said the communications devices confiscated from the suspects contained a correspondence with a Ukrainian special service officer via WhatsApp and Signal, confirming preparations for the assassination attempt.
The FSB also reported the discovery of a video surveillance camera disguised as a flower vassel, equipped with remote control, which will be used in the attack.
"According to FSB data, the Ukrainian regime, which acts under the direction of Western special services, is preparing for similar crimes in other Russian territory," the FSB noted.
