Former Unram Employee Pregnant Student Sued 10 Years In Prison

The public prosecutor asked the panel of judges at the Mataram District Court, West Nusa Tenggara, to sentence a former Mataram University employee named Semah to 10 years in prison for a criminal act of impregnating a student.

"Asking the panel of judges who examine and try this case to sentence the defendant to 10 years in prison," said Huznul Raudah representing the team of public prosecutors reading out the charges before the panel of judges at the Mataram District Court, Thursday, November 13.

The prosecutor in charge of the former employee of the Mataram University (Unram) Research and Service Institute (LPPM) also requested that the judge impose a fine of Rp. 60 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

The prosecutor set such a claim by stating that Semah's actions had violated the first indictment of Article 6 letter b of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS).

At the end of the prosecution, the prosecutor asked the judge to declare the defendant to remain in custody.

The case that occurred in mid-2023 was first revealed from the results of the NTB Police investigation.

It was revealed that the defendant's actions had resulted in the victim giving birth to a child without the legality of a legitimate parent before the law.
