BGN Affirms That The SPPG Kitchen In Manokwari, West Papua, Must Use Local Food Materials

JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) requires all Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in Manokwari Regency, West Papua, to use local food from the surrounding community in the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG).

BGN's Representative of the Directorate of Promotion and Nutrition Education Gusti Yudha said the use of local food is an important part in strengthening regional food security and encouraging the economic growth of the community.

"Based on technical guidelines, the SPPG kitchen takes raw materials from the local community, if there are none around, then they can only look for raw materials to other areas," said Gusti Yudha during the socialization of MBG with Member of Commission IX DPR RI Obet Rumbruren in Manokwari, Wednesday, confiscated by Antara.

Although the SPPG takes local food raw materials, he said, the SPPG cannot buy in small portions. The deposit of raw materials must be in large quantities so that the food supply mechanism is carried out collectively through cooperatives or Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes).

"Residents can coordinate with cooperatives or BUMDes. Later the materials will be collected first, then deposited into the SPPG kitchen in the big party," said Gusti Yudha.

With this economic opportunity, BGN appealed to people who used to stop farming or raising livestock to be active again, because the kitchen needed a lot of food supplies.

He added that the MBG Program fee standard was set at Rp. 15,000 per serving, with details of Rp. 10,000 for foodstuffs, Rp. 3,000 for labor operations and salaries, and Rp. 2,000 for partner profits and management foundations.

In addition, to maintain the hygienic and nutrition of the menu provided by SPPG, BGN currently limits the number of portions per SPPG. If previously one SPPG could manage 3,000-4,000 MBG servings, currently it is limited to only 2,500-3,000 servings.

BGN ensures the implementation of MBG not only reduces the malnutrition rate, but also drives the economy of the community around the SPPG kitchen through the involvement of farmers, fishermen, and local small business actors.

Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives Obet Rumbruren expressed his appreciation for the increasingly widespread gift of MBG in Manokwari Regency and in West Papua Province.

With the wider provision of the MBG Program, he said, it can support Indonesia's vision of Gold 2045 through the creation of a healthy, intelligent, and strong generation.

The free nutrition fulfillment program for school children, he continued, is an important effort by the central government to improve the quality of human resources in West Papua.

"It is important to implement the MBG Program so that nutritious food raw materials are taken from local farmers in Manokwari Regency to support the community's economy," he said.

Based on data from the BGN representative of West Papua, currently the number of SPPG kitchens in West Papua Province is 35 kitchens and 20 of them are in Manokwari Regency.
