ACTION TO THE DPR: Permit Is A Absolute Requirement For The Use Of Songs In Music Concerts

JAKARTA - The All-Indonesian Composite Association (AKSI) remains firm in its belief that there must be a permit before the musical or song creation is used.

This view is different from some parties, which states that permits or licenses can be submitted before or after work is used, especially in the context of music performances.

Piyu as the General Chair of ACTION said that his party submitted points regarding the permit when attending the General Hearing Meeting (RDPU) with the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR regarding the revision of the Copyright Law at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, November 11.

"The main points are in Article 9 (The Copyright Law), that indeed to use works in a show or in the use of works intently, performances, announcements, and all kinds of things', there must be a permit," Piyu told the media crew after the RDPU.

"Well, in our context, we are at a music show or concert. We want a music show, before the event starts there must be a permit first, there must be a license first," he continued.

Meanwhile, regarding the mechanism for applying for a license or license to pay royalties, ACTION asks the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) in charge of collecting royalties, using a digitalized system.

"What is the mechanism like? We can arrange it later. Later it can be regulated in the article itself," he said. The main thing is that we propose with digitization. Because so far what LMKN has done is still not digital, everything is completely manual, still asking to go there, come here.

Not only regarding permits, Piyu said, AKSI also submitted several other inputs. But what is to be sure, the input is in favor of songwriters.

"We express our opinion on how this Copyright Law should be, which according to our proposal, is more just and more able to prosper songwriters," said Piyu.

"We have several proposals from the articles that we convey. There are things that we add, we need to eliminate, and there are also articles that we may have to add," he concluded.
