WAMI Deposits Royalty Collection Results Worth IDR 64 Billion To LMKN For Verification

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Music Center (WAMI) officially deposited data and part of the proceeds from royalty collection to the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) on Monday, November 10.

This step involved a fantastic value of funds, reaching around Rp. 64 billion, marking the start of an audit of the management of music royalties in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the submission of collection funds and data is part of WAMI's commitment to comply with applicable regulations.

WAMI's President Director, Adi Adrian, explained that his party was ready to complete everything mandated by legal provisions.

"We are ready to complete everything that is regulated according to regulations. We leave this fund to LMKN to be verified together so that the distribution is in accordance with the data and legal provisions," Adi said, quoted from the LMKN official website, Tuesday.

WAMI's move also received a positive response from the Chairman of the LMKN Creator, Andi Mulhanan Kunciotutu, who assessed that the submission of funds and data was an indication of compliance with important principles, namely transparency and accountability in royalty governance, which has often been in the spotlight.

"Thank you to WAMI friends. Their presence today is proof that we all obey the principles. LMKN will capture all the data submitted to ensure the accuracy and validity," said Andi.

He emphasized that collaboration and accuracy are the keys in the verification process. The goal is to ensure the distribution of royalties can run on target and accountably for rights holders.

This verification process, according to the Deputy Chairperson of the LMKN Creator, Dedy Kurniadi, will begin soon. A joint work team consisting of representatives of LMKN and WAMI is scheduled to start working on Wednesday, November 12.

This team is tasked with perfecting all the data deposited, before the tens of billions of funds are finally returned to WAMI to be distributed to songwriters and legal rights owners.

The LMKN commissioner, Ahmad Ali Fahmi, emphasized that this step is required by a clear legal framework, including Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright, Government Regulation Number 56 of 2021, to Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number 27 of 2025 concerning Management of Royalties on Copyright of Songs and/or Music.

"All data and part of the funds submitted by WAMI will be verified first by LMKN. After being declared complete and valid, the funds will be returned to WAMI to be then distributed to songwriters and related rights owners," explained Fahmi.

This verification, he continued, must be carried out to ensure the true royalties, the period of collection, cutting costs, and the validity of all data on rights recipients who are entitled to royalties, including handling potential unclaimed funds.

To ensure the integrity of the process, the joint work team that will start their duties is filled with important representatives from both parties. From LMKN represented by Andi Mulhanan Kunciotutu, Dedy Kurniadi, Suyud Margono, Ahmad Ali Fahmi, and M. Noor Korompot. Meanwhile, WAMI representatives are filled by Adi Adrian, Robert Mulyahadja, Mochammad Bigi, Ramadha Putra, and Djamaludin.

Meanwhile, the handover meeting was attended by five LMKN commissioners and the LMKN Supervisory Board from the Indonesian Ministry of Law.

Closing his explanation, Fahmi hopes that "this work team can produce decisions that are transparent, fair, and accountable," for the sake of clarity of the royalty fate of musicians in Indonesia.
