Deputy Governor Of Papua Klemen Tinal Dies, Minister Of Home Affairs Guards Government Keep Running

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, has ensured that the wheels of government in Papua continue to run.

This was conveyed about the death of Deputy Governor of Papua, Klemen Tinal, Friday, May 21.

"We the Ministry of Trade will continue to control the government to keep running", Tito said in a statement to reporters, Friday, May 21.

He mentioned, Klemen Tinal is the best son figure of Papua he has known since 2012. At that time, Tito was serving as the Chief of Police of Papua.

"He (Klemen Tinal, red) was also running with Mr. Lukas Enembe as Governor and Deputy Governor", he said.

The former Police Chief expressed his deep condolences for the death of the Deputy Governor of Papua. "We from the Ministry of Trade, the central government are deeply sorry", said Tito.

"May he rest in peace", he added.

Previously reported, Klemen Tinal died in Abdi Waluyo Hospital on Friday, May 21 at 04.00 WIB. His body was then buried in Gatot Subroto's funeral home.

Head of the Communication and Informatics Office of Papua Province Jery Yudianto told Antara in Jayapura, said it was still waiting for further plans from the family of the deceased nearby.

He said his party is also still coordinating with the next of kin who are now heading to Jakarta. "Mrs. Wagub plans to arrive in Jakarta this afternoon around 13.00", he said.

He explained that because the deceased is a state official, it is also still waiting for the protocol processes of local officials.

"Regarding the official statement regarding the medical condition of the Deputy Governor of Papua, until now there has been no information that we have received", he said.

Previously, Deputy Governor of Papua Klemen Tinal was in Jakarta to undergo a medical check-up.

Meanwhile, Kapuspen Kemendagri Benni Irwan said that his party has coordinated with the provincial government on the management of the body of Papua Deputy Governor Klemen Tina.

"The Ministry of Trade has coordinated with the local government and is still waiting for a follow-up plan from the provincial government for the next implementation of the deceased's body", said Head of the Ministry of Home Affairs Information Center, Benni Irwan when contacted, in Jakarta, reported Antara.
