KPK Provides Extra Security For Prosecutors Assigned In The Case Of Bobby Nasution's Subordinates

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) provides extra security for prosecutors who are on duty in the trial of alleged road project bribery in North Sumatra Province.

This case dragged the former Head of the North Sumatra PUPR Service, Topan Obaja Putra Ginting, also known as a close person to Bobby Nasution.

"Of course we are increasing our vigilance for public prosecutors who are currently carrying out their duties, prosecuting activities or trials related to arrests in North Sumatra," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu to reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, November 10.

This vigilance is referred to by Asep as a follow-up to the fire incident at the house of one of the judges at the Medan Corruption Court, Khamizaro Waruwu. This incident occurred on Tuesday, November 4 or after he ordered Bobby Nasution to be presented at trial.

This order was conveyed after Muhammad Haldun as Secretary of the North Sumatra PUPR Service who was presented as a witness in the trial revealed the shift in budget through the Governor Regulation (Pergub) for the implementation of road construction projects.

"The prosecutors here (trialed in the bribery case for the road project, ed) are staying there (Medan City), we also complete it with friends who are securing the KPK. So far, of course, we have included the existing security guards from the KPK," he said.

"So increase vigilance, yes, of course it is natural, yes, a response to the events that occurred there," continued Asep, who also serves as Director of KPK Investigations.

The KPK also hopes that the police can thoroughly investigate the fire incident. Asep emphasized that his party also continues to monitor the conditions there.

"We support the investigation and investigation efforts that are of course carried out by the police. Hopefully, it can be open, why or what cause," he said.

"We are also waiting together, we provide opportunities to the police, of course, law enforcement officials to carry out investigations related to the matter".
