First Meeting, Police Reform Commission To Hold Meeting Every Thursday Involving NGOs

After the inaugural meeting, the Chairman of the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission Jimly Asshiddiqie explained that the meeting will be held once a week, every Thursday, involving several parties from academics, the Public Organization (NGO).

It is known that the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission held the first meeting at the National Police Headquarters on Monday afternoon. In a meeting that lasted for two hours, all members attended.

Jimly explained that this inaugural meeting discussed the team's work patterns over the next three months including the agenda and targets to be achieved. Over the next three months, the commission team has scheduled a marathon meeting with routine meetings every week.

"Every week we hold a plenary meeting, but between once a week," he told the media at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Monday, November 10, 2025.

Jimmy added that his party will also open space for community groups to express their aspirations regarding Polri reform. For example, continued Jimly, from academics on campus, Student BEM, community organizations, to NGO networks.

"All groups that have interests and aspirations will be listened to in the context of Polri reform," he added.

Jimly said, before next Thursday, the commission would again hold a preparatory meeting for the implementation of the first public hearing, including the solutions they might propose.

Then, the team will review all input so that in the first two months new recommendations and policies can be formulated in the context of police reform.

Lebi continued, matters that are quick win and related to internal police matters will also be reported.

Jimly explained that this would later be conveyed directly to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who is also a member of the Police Reform Acceleration Commission.

"We will recommend it directly to the internal police," he said.

Jimly emphasized that the National Police Chief will be the link between the results of the Reform Commission's work and the internal ranks of the Police.

"Yes, one of them is the benefits of course not only the Chief of Police, we also listen to developments reports that have existed so far. We will always invite the head of the internal reform team at the Kamisan meeting so that we can obtain information from internal information," he explained.

"We don't just see the Police from outside, because sometimes the outside perception is different from the reality inside," he concluded.
