Deputy Minister Of Communication And Trade Of Nezar Affirms AI Cannot Replace How Humans Communicate

JAKARTA - Although the development of artificial intelligence (AI) has created disruptions in many areas, including communications, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria emphasized that AI cannot replace humans.

Because according to him, behind the sophistication of AI technology that is close to human ability, AI still has a major weakness, namely lack of empathy and critical thinking skills.

"One thing that makes humans different from machines is the ability of empathy and critical thinking," Nezar said in his official broadcast quoted Monday, November 10.

He added that humans communicate not only with words, but also with body gestures. This is what AI cannot replace which works with mathematical formulas to produce every word and image.

"This AI engine behind it works with mathematical formulas, everything with numbers, while we have a distinctive human way of communicating, which sometimes can only be read by fellow humans," he explained.

Therefore, Nezar invites practitioners in the field of communication science to continue to hone empathy and critical thinking skills to maintain ethical and humanitarian values in every message delivered.

Wamen Nezar juga mendorong keterlibatan manusia dalam setiap pengambilan keputusan untuk memitigasi risiko kesalahan- kesalahan yang dibuat oleh AI.
