Padi Reborn Shows Music Maturity Through New Single 'Ego'

JAKARTA - Padi Reborn has finally officially released their newest single entitled Ego. This song brings an important meaning in the journey of Fadly (vocals), Piyu (guitar), Ari (guitar), Rindra (bass), and Yoyo (drums) as a unit that has been together for almost three decades.

Piyu, who wrote the lyrics of this song, explained that "Ego" raises the human side that is often entangled in prestige and desire to always feel right. According to him, ego is a universal problem that almost everyone experiences, both in romantic relationships and daily interactions.

"We often see the ego from other people, but not ourselves," Piyu said in his statement, Sunday, November 9.

Musically, 'Ego' seemed to bring Padi Reborn to the roots of his music. After releasing the previous two singles, "You're My Angel" and "Langit Biru", they returned the early musical style but were more mature.

With a strong melody, Fadly's vocal character is getting more mature, and his distinctive harmony, Ego is a form of our musical maturity in today's era. Despite experimenting, we feel this is the music Padi wants," said Rindra.

"After the last two singles, we returned to a more acoustic Padi style. We miss Padi music like this," added the bassist.

This single presents an interesting combination of pop-rock touch and authentic music colors that have been attached to Padi since the beginning of his career. The strength of the arrangement is getting more magnificent and emotional thanks to the collaboration with Budapest Scoring Orchestra.

Fadly added that the portion of the orchestra in the single "Ego" was far more dominant than the previous Padi works. He admitted that he was very impressed with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, especially because of the live recording process which resulted in maximum quality.

The experience of working with this orchestra is extraordinary. They are very precise, efficient, and able to maintain a very good musical balance. This is our first experience working with an orchestra on a large scale and greatly enriching our music-making process," said Fadly.

In addition, Ari called this single as an answer and a gift for Sobat Padi "as for fans" who never tire of providing support to Padi Reborn.

"Ego" is a gift from us to Sobat Padi who is always there, from stage to stage, from album to album. We grew up with them, and we present this song as an expression of gratitude," said Ari.

This single is also the opening opener to "Two Eight", the first rice album since the last time it released the album "Element Indera" in 2019.

Not only that, but the 'Ego' is also Padi Reborn's first step towards the big celebration of the 'Two Eight Concert' which will be held at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Central Jakarta on January 31, 2026. This concert is the culmination of the 28th anniversary of Padi Reborn's journey in the music world.

Two eight for us are symbols of a long journey that we have passed together as a band. We have gone through a lot, and our sense of togetherness is getting stronger. We hope this energy can last another 28 years," said Yoyo.
