Wearing A Cool Vest, Minister Of Trade Budi Santoso Surprises The JMFW 2026 Stage

JAKARTA In the midst of the highlight of sparkling lights and the graceful steps of the models on stage, Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2026, Thursday 6 November 2025, a surprise was created. At the opening ceremony of the Minister of Trade Budi Santoso looked stunning on the catwalk.

With stable steps and fresh style, the Minister appeared wearing an exclusive vest (vest) designed by young Indonesian talented designer from Palembang, Brilianto. The Vest not only showsrcery and confidence, but also has a special personal touch.

That afternoon, behind the vest worn by the Minister, there was a story about hope, that style, concern, and collaboration that could go hand in hand, creating a positive impact on the earth and society.

"On the back, I pinned the letter B, the initials of Mr. Budi Santoso's name, so that the appearance is more personal and exclusive," said Brilianto with a smile.

According to Brilianto, the clothes that the Minister of Trade Busan wears are not just the result of mode creativity. However, there is a strong message stored in each stitches and pieces of its fabric, about caring for the environment and the spirit to drive the community's economy.

Brilico is known as a designer who consistently carries the concept of sustainable fashion. He made the vest from pieces of perca cloth left over from fashion production. He rearranged the small pieces of fabric into a complete cloth, forming a new pattern and texture that represents responsibility for the earth and commitment to environmentally friendly production.

"I realized that the fashion industry caused waste. So I felt the need to be responsible for reprocessing the waste into something of value. Therefore, I processed the remaining perca cloth into a complete cloth, then made ready-to-wear clothes, even derivative products such as home décor. So completely zero waste, does not add fashion waste in Indonesia," said Briianto.

Not only environmentally friendly, Brilico also interprets his design as a form of social concern to move the economy of the surrounding community. In the production process, he collaborates with housewives around his residence to participate in the process of sewing and preparing perca cloth. Through this step, he not only creates sustainable clothing, but also opens up new economic opportunities for the community.

The presence of JMFW 2026 emphasized the government's support for sustainable fashion as well as the local creative economy. Through a vest by Brilianto, the message was conveyed elegantly that fashion can be a medium to voice environmental concern as well as empower the community.
