Metro Police Chief: Explosion At SMAN 72 Kelapa Gading Mosque Still Being Investigated, Public Don't Speculate

The Regional Police Chief emphasized that the police are still investigating the explosion incident at SMAN 72 Jakarta, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. He asked the public not to speculate until the investigation process was complete.

The Kapolda said that his party could not provide certainty regarding whether the incident included acts of terrorism.

"Later it will be delivered, yes. Tell me not now. This is still being investigated, our members are still in the field. This means that so that it does not become a wild issue in the community," he told the media at the Jakarta Islamic Hospital, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, Friday, November 7, 2025.

He emphasized that this explosion would be delivered after a team from the police had completed their investigation.

"It will be explained later if the team in the field finds all the materials and data," he said.

Regarding the whereabouts of the alleged perpetrator, the Kapolda stated that his party was still conducting direct checks in the field.

"We can't go directly. My members have sterilized, Gegana has worked in the field. We will close it first. After the meeting, we will convey everything," he explained.

Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri said a total of 54 people were victims of the North Jakarta SMAN 72 explosion, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. The explosion occurred during Friday's prayer sermon.

"The number is around 54 people," he said.

Of that number, some suffered moderate, minor injuries, but some had been sent home from the hospital (RS). Some of them suffered burns, were affected by debris, and were hit by small objects.

"There were minor injuries, some were moderately injured, and maybe someone had gone home earlier," he said.
