Metro Police Chief: 54 Victims Of Explosion At SMAN 72 Kelapa Gading Mosque
JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri said, a total of 54 people were victims of the North Jakarta SMA 72 explosion, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. The explosion occurred during Friday's prayer sermon, Friday, November 7.
"The number is around 54 people," said Inspector General Asep Edi, Friday, November 7, 2025.
Of that number, some suffered moderate, minor injuries, but some had been sent home from the hospital (RS). Some of them suffered burns, were affected by debris, and were hit by small objects.
"There were minor injuries, some were moderately injured, and maybe someone had gone home earlier," he said.
The victims were treated at Yarsi Hospital, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, and Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital. The police have also established a post at the hospital regarding this incident.
"Which are our first steps to make POSKO, Command Post at Yarsi Hospital, and the Jakarta Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital, in order to help the families of the victims, to find their students who are being treated," he said.
Furthermore, Asep Edi revealed that the explosion incident allegedly occurred when the Friday prayer sermon at the SMAN 72 Mosque was ongoing. However, this is still being investigated regarding the certainty of the time the explosion occurred.

Previously, it was reported that the police confirmed that there was an explosion at SMA 72 North Jakarta, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
This was revealed by the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Police Commissioner Budi Hermanto. The explosion was mentioned from around the mosque there. It is suspected that it happened during Friday prayers.
"Yes, it is true that there was an explosion," he said, Friday, November 7, 2025.
A total of two people have so far been victims. Both have been rushed to the hospital (RS), for help.
"There is information that two victims were taken to the hospital," he said.
