Polda Metro Names 8 Suspects In The Defamation Case Of Alleged Fake Jokowi's Diplomas

Polda Metro Jaya has named eight suspects in the defamation and slander case related to the alleged fake diploma of the 7th former President Joko widodo (Jokowi).

This was conveyed by the Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Asep Edi Suheri, at Polda Metro Jaya on Friday, November 8, 2025 morning.

"Determining eight people as suspects in cases of defamation, slander, hate speech, incitement of editing and manipulation of electronic data through social media, reported by Mr. Ir. H. Joko Widodo (Jokowi)," he told the media at Polda Metro Jaya, Friday, November 7, 2025.

Asep Edi said that the determination of the suspect was based on the results of the assistance and case title held at the Ditreskrimum Building of the Polda Metro Jaya yesterday.

"This determination is carried out after going through an assistance and case title process where the process involves experts and supervisors both externally and internally," he said.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya held a case to determine who would upgrade the status of the reported party to become a suspect in the alleged case of Jokowi's fake diploma.

This was confirmed by the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, when confirmed on Thursday 6 November 2025.

"Yes, the assessment with the experts has just been completed and will continue with the case title presenting internal supervision," he said.

Furthermore, the case of Jokowi's alleged fake diploma began with reports from a number of people, one of whom was former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Roy Suryo. He and his colleagues sued the authenticity of Jokowi's undergraduate diploma from the Faculty of Forestry, Gadjah Mada University (UGM). They accused the document of being invalid and suspected that there was forgery.

However, Jokowi, through his attorney, reported to Polda Metro Jaya on April 30, 2025 on charges of slander and defamation. The report also greeted the Polda Metro Jaya investigators raising the status of the case from investigation to investigation after an indication of a criminal element was found.

Then during the investigation process, Jokowi had twice given information to investigators. In addition, the police also confiscated the original diplomas of high school and S1 Jokowi for examination in a forensic laboratory as part of the evidentiary process.
