German And Chinese Foreign Ministers 'Fry' About Economic Security And Policy, But Finally Agree

JAKARTA - German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul attacked each other 'attack' with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, regarding security, economic policy, and other topics of common interest.

As reported by Reuters on Monday, November 3, a spokesman for the German Foreign Ministry said the two ministers finally agreed via a phone call that Wadephul's recent canceled visit to China should be rescheduled immediately.

China also invited German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to visit again.

Relations between China and Germany are heating up due to various issues, including rare earth metals and chips, although these two export-oriented countries face economic uncertainty as a result of widespread tariffs by US President Donald Trump to reorganize global trade.

According to a Chinese Foreign Ministry statement regarding the phone call, Wang told Wadephul differences were difficult to avoid, but both sides had to improve communication, understanding, and mutual trust.

He also urged Berlin to oppose what he called "Taiwan independence", calling Beijing's "One China" principle "Taiwan's statement an inseparable part of China's "most important" region."

"China and Germany need to build a stable and sustainable policy framework to maintain bilateral relations on the right track," Wang said.
