BI Calls Only 13 Provinces Applying QRIS Tap In & Out In Transportation Mode

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) noted that so far only 13 provinces in Indonesia have implemented a digital Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) payment system based on Near Field Communication (NFC) on public transportation services.

BI Deputy Governor Filianingsih Hendarta said the 13 provinces included DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, Banten, South Sumatra, North Sumatra, Riau, West Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, Bali, and South Sulawesi.

Filianingsih explained that the use of QRIS Tap In & Out in most of these areas is applied to Damri transportation modes, except in North Sumatra, South Sumatra, and West Kalimantan using TRANS buses.

Meanwhile in Jakarta, this digital payment system has been implemented on MRT, Damri, and Transjakarta Buses.

Digital transportation in the regional transportation sector is increasingly evident through the implementation of QRIS Tap. Currently, there are 13 provinces that have adopted QRIS Tap in various modes of transportation ranging from MRT, Damri, and Trans," he said at the Opening Ceremony Day 2 FEKDI X IFSE 2025, Friday, October 31.

To expand the implementation of this system, Filianingsih encouraged 46 Offices Representatives of Bank Indonesia Dalam Negeri (KPwDN) to cooperate with their respective local governments in accelerating the digitization of transportation payments using QRIS Tap.

According to him, the implementation of this digital payment system not only increases transaction efficiency in the transportation sector, but also builds a more transparent, accountable and inclusive regional financial ecosystem foundation.

Lebih lanjut, Filianingsih mengakui tingkat adopsi pembayaran digital di sektor transportasi masih tertinggal dibandingkan sektor lain.

Namun, ia optimistis penerapan QRIS Tap In & Out akan menjadi katalis penting dalam mempercepat digitalisasi layanan publik di berbagai daerah.

Furthermore, Filianingsih admitted that the level of digital payment adoption in the transportation sector was still lagging behind other sectors.

However, he is optimistic that the implementation of QRIS Tap In & Out will be an important catalyst in accelerating the digitization of public services in various regions.
