England Sanksi Bankir Iran Aliakbar Ansar Gara-gara Sokong Finansial Garda Revolutionary

JAKARTA - Britain imposed sanctions on Iranian banker and businessman Aliakbar Ansari on Thursday, citing its role in supporting Iran's Revolutionary Guard activities financially.

"The use of repression and threats directed by him (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) to commit acts of hostility, including in the UK, is completely unacceptable," said British Middle Eastern Minister Hamish Falconer.

"We will not tolerate threats from the IRGC and will not hesitate to take the most effective action against them," Falconer continued.

Updates on the UK government's website show that asset freezes, director disqualifications, and travel bans have been imposed on Ansari.

Ansari is a major shareholder in a private bank of Bankurdeh, which was dissolved last week by Iran's central bank due to long-term debt and regulatory issues. The bank is experiencing financial difficulties after financing the construction of one of the largest malls in the world in Tehran, known as Iran Mall.

He was the last person targeted by the British government, who last year sanctioned part of the IRGC for supporting Yemen's Houthis operations, and Iran's main military figures following Iran's missile and drone attacks against Israel in April.
