There Will Be An Official Indonesian Stablecoin, BI Prepares Digital Securities
JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo emphasized BI's commitment to releasing central bank digital securities.
Perry explained that in addition to developing digital rupiah, BI will also present a digital version of securities-based securities (SBN).
He added that this digital security will be a derivative of digital rupiah, serving as Indonesia's official national stablecoin.
"God willing, with digital rupiah, we will issue how Bank Indonesia's rupiah securities has a digital version. Digital rupiah Bank Indonesia with an underline SBN. This is a stable coin version, officially Indonesian. God willing, we will develop it there," he said at the 2025 Indonesia Digital Economy Festival (Fekdi) and Indonesia Fintech Summit & Expo (IFSE) on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

Perry menyampaikan dalam pengembangan keuangan digital, BI akan fokus pada tiga pilar utama yaitu perluasan akseptasi dan inovasi, penguatan struktur industri, serta menjaga stabilitas industri.
Sebagai informasi, stablecoin adalah aset digital atau mata uang kripto yang nilainya dipatok ke mata uang fiat, seperti dolar AS atau yuan, sehingga hal ini membuat nilainya relatif stabil dan tidak mengalami fluktuasi ekstrem seperti Bitcoin atau Ethereum.

Perry said that in digital financial development, BI will focus on three main pillars, namely the expansion of acceptability and innovation, strengthening industrial structure, and maintaining industrial stability.
For information, stablecoins are digital assets or cryptocurrencies whose value is pegged to fiat currencies, such as the US dollar or yuan, so this makes their value relatively stable and does not experience extreme fluctuations such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.
