Madrasah Teacher Demo At Monas, Police Deploy 1,597 Security Personnel

Central Jakarta Metro Police have alerted 1,597 joint personnel from the TNI, Polri and DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to oversee the demonstrations carried out by a combination of madrasas teachers and a number of community elements in Jakarta, Thursday, October 30.

"We are here to ensure that everything runs safely and conducive," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Susatyo Purnomo Condro in Jakarta, Thursday, October 30, confiscated by Antara.

He said, a number of teacher groups, including the Association of Teachers' Organizations of All Indonesian Teachers' Association (PGSI), the Independent Madrasah Teachers' Association (PGMM), the National Inpassing Teachers' Association (PGIN) and the Indonesian National Madrasah Teachers' Office (PGMNI) will hold demonstrations in the Monas area, Central Jakarta.

In addition, he continued, there were several other elements of society who also held demonstrations with not too many masses.

Therefore, 1,597 joint personnel were deployed to ensure security and oversee the demonstration.

He asked the masses to hold demonstrations in a peaceful and orderly manner, not to burn tires, not damage public facilities, and not close roads.

"Please express your opinion, but remain in the corridor of law and order," said Susatyo.

Regarding the traffic diversion scenario, the police said it was situational, but residents were advised to avoid roads around the demonstration area and use alternative routes.

"We ask for the understanding of the community. Safety and comfort together are our priorities," said Susatyo.

Furthermore, he also appealed to the public not to be easily consumed by hoaxes circulating on social media and information that could potentially trigger a commotion.

"Security officers do not carry firearms and serve residents who express their opinions humanely and professionally," said Susatyo.

The demonstration, which was held by a group of madrasa teachers, demanded that the government treat the same rights considering the regulations that have been in effect so far, namely the appointment of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) is considered not to side with them.
