The KPK Asks The Public To Continue To Take Advantage Of The Economy Even Though They Are Investigating Allegations Of Corruption

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has asked the public to continue using the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train, even though the anti-corruption agency is currently investigating allegations of corruption related to public transportation.

"People please continue to be able to use the fast train service as one of the modes of transportation," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo at the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 29.

Budi explained that the KPK does not want the ongoing legal process to disrupt public services organized by PT Kereta Api Indonesia or KAI (Persero).

Based on the company's website, PT KAI is the largest shareholder in the consortium of PT Pilar Sinergi BUMN Indonesia (PSBI) with 58.53 percent ownership.

Meanwhile, PT PSBI holds 60 percent of the shares, and another 40 percent is held by a consortium of Chinese railway companies called Beijing Yawan HSR Co. Ltd.

Previously, former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD in a video uploaded on his personal YouTube channel on October 14, 2025, namely Mahfud MD Official, revealed that there were allegations of corruption in the form of budget inflations or mark-ups in thefeeding project.

"According to Indonesia's calculations, the cost per one kilometer of the dollar 52 millionASH train. However, in China itself, the calculation is 17-18 million US dollars. It has tripled," he said.

He continued, "Who is raising this? Where did the money go? It tripled up. 17 million US dollars, yes, US dollars, not rupiah, per kilometer to 52 million US dollars in Indonesia. Now that's a mark-up. It must be investigated who did this first."

On October 16, 2025, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) appealed to Mahfud MD to make a report regarding alleged corruption in thefeedingsh project.

After that, Mahfud MD and the KPK responded to each other about this. Until October 26, 2025, Mahfud stated that he was ready to be summoned by the KPK to provide information regarding allegations of corruption related toASH.

Meanwhile, the KPK on October 27, 2025, announced that allegations of corruption related toPORTash had gone up to the investigation stage since early 2025.
