European Union Reminds Israel-Hamas To Comply With Gaza's Armistice

JAKARTA - The European Union calls on all parties to refrain from actions that could threaten a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The call was conveyed by the Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs of the European Commission, Anouar El Anouni on Wednesday, October 29.

Earlier, Gaza's Ministry of Health reported Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip killed more than 100 people and injured more than 250 people since fighting again increased on Tuesday night.

The European Union is closely monitoring developments in Gaza yesterday. We again call on all parties to continue to respect the ceasefire," El Anouni told a news conference reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Saturday, October 29.

"We urge firmly that all parties fully commit to implementing all stages of plans to stop the conflict in Gaza and stop any action that could weaken the ceasefire's sustainability or re-trigger the fighting," he said.

El Anouni stressed that there was no military solution to the conflict and urged that the cycle of death and destruction be ended immediately.

On Tuesday, Israeli authority leader Benjamin Netanyahu's office accused the Palestinian Hamas movement of violating a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

The allegations came after Hamas returned some of the bodies of a hostage taken by Israeli soldiers about two years ago, instead of handing over the bodies of other hostages still detained in Gaza.

Israeli military radio Galei Tzahal also reported that Hamas militias opened fire on Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip on the same day.

In response to this, Netanyahu ordered a massive retaliatory attack on the Palestinian enclave after consulting with the military.

Meanwhile, United States Vice President JD Vance stated that the ceasefire in Gaza was still in effect.

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into force on October 10.
