Foreign Minister Sugiono Calls The ASEAN-PBB Partnership Must Be Practical, Real And Future-minded
JAKARTA - ASEAN and the United Nations must stand firm to show true strength lies in collaboration, not confrontation, calling their partnerships practical, real and future-minded.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Sugiono when delivering a national statement on behalf of President Prabowo Subianto at the 15th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which was attended by the Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres on Monday.
Foreign Minister Sugiono said, in the midst of a world facing many challenges, while multilateralism is under unprecedented pressure, what is needed is a sense of unity.
"ASEAN and the United Nations must stand firm to show that true power lies in collaboration, not confrontation," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, launching a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tuesday, October 28.
"Our partnership must be practical, real and future-minded," he said.
"The ASEAN's 2026-2030 PBB Action Plan offers a roadmap that is the basis for more in-depth and result-oriented cooperation," he added.
Related to this, the Indonesian Foreign Minister said that food security and climate action are two areas that require collective attention.

Foreign Minister Sugiono said Indonesia would continue to cooperate with UN institutions such as FAO and WFP to strengthen regional food security and encourage sustainable agriculture.
Meanwhile, regarding climate cooperation, Foreign Minister Sugiono highlighted the ASEAN Power Grid initiative to increase regional energy connectivity and renewable energy integration, as well as invite the United Nations to support financing and capacity building towards a fair and inclusive energy transition.
On this occasion, the Indonesian Foreign Minister also encouraged a stronger UN presence in Jakarta, as a reflection of a shared commitment to strengthening peace, sustainability and partnership.
