After Electronic Devices, Sharp Will Now Launch Its First Electric Car
JAKARTA - So far, most people know Sharp through electronic devices for homes Now, this company seems to intend to expand its market by presenting electric cars, as Polytron does in Indonesia.
The Japanese electronics giant is increasingly entering the automotive sector, relying on the strength of R&D and Foxconn manufacturing. Its latest effort is a much more sophisticated version of the LDK+ electric minivan concept, which will debut on the Japan Mobility Show later this month.
LDK+ is currently closer to ready-to-production vehicles than the prototype introduced in 2024. Its proportion is now more like a conventional minivan, leaving the top cabin profile of the previous version.
The front is now more prominent, with wide LED headlights integrated into a closed grip with the Sharp logo. Nonetheless, the overall design is a bit generic, even though it uses two colors.

This Minivan has a sliding door and the back is perpendicular, while traditional rearview mirrors and door handles hint that this concept is almost produced. As reported by Carscoops, Saturday, October 25.
Another image shows the interior of the cabin, which is entered through a wide opening without pillars. The layout includes flat floors, driver seats that can be rotated facing back, and console boxes equipped with folding tables.
The rear occupants for the three passengers are positioned more backwards, sacrificing cargo space but creating an environment like a lounge with surrounding lighting. The 65-inch large screen on the original concept has been removed.
However, this updated model gets a projector and screen that can be pulled over the back bench, converting the cabin into a mobile theater or remote workspace. This EV combines the AIoT Sharp platform, which allows it to connect with household appliances, such as AC and washing machines.
This EV uses AI to study user habits and preferences, as well as support V2H functionality, solar panel integration, and household battery systems. Sharp LDK+ has the same basis as Foxconn Model A.
However, Sharp has not shared specifications regarding the powertrain or battery pack that will be presented. The minivan made by Foxconn itself is scheduled to be on the streets of Japan in early 2027, followed by its launch on the ASEAN market.
