Double Standards International Olympic Committee Gives Birth To Ganefo Left Olympics

JAKARTA - The International Olympic Committee, the IOC strictly prohibits politics from entering the world of sports. Anyone who forces to interfere in politics and sport is threatened with sanctions. Indonesia, which incidentally hosts the 1962 Asian Games, got the sap.

Indonesia's rejection of Israel and Taiwan resulted in sanctions. However, Bung Karno did not accept it. The Indonesian president considered the IOC to have applied double standards. As a result, Bung Karno was furious. He took Indonesia out of the IOC and created a rival Olympics: Ganefo.

Politics and sport are like two things that cannot be released. The narrative has been shown by many countries in world-class sporting events. Indonesia also did not want to be left behind. Soekarno also tried to show the world that Indonesia was consistent in fighting colonialism on earth.

This political stance was present in the implementation of the 1962 Asian Games. Indonesia rejects the participation of Israel and Taiwan. The rejection of Israel was specifically carried out because Israel annexed the Palestinian territories.

The rejection of Taiwan arose because of sympathy for China. Taiwan is considered a British doll. The IOC is furious is not a joke. The IOC considers Indonesia to have mixed politics into sports celebrations. This condition makes Indonesia threatened with a suspension from IOC membership.

The IOC also asked Indonesia to apologize immediately. Instead of apologizing, Indonesia did not want to apologize. Bung Karno considered the steps taken by Indonesia to be commonplace in the world of sports. He emphasized that there has never been a sport that does not interfere with politics.

Bung Karno challenged the IOC to win France, which banned the RDD (East Germany) national anthem from being played in a volleyball match in 1959. Big Brother also asked the IOC to score the United States (US) because it did not issue a RDD athlete visa during the 1960 Winter Olympics.

Bung Karno, who was offended, was not afraid to bring Indonesia out of the IOC. He also promised to hold a big sporting event against the Olympics, the Sport Festival of Developing Countries: Ganefo.

"They think we are weak and ask to be allowed to re-enter. What kind of nation do we think? We are not a tempe nation. I ordered the Minister of Maladi to leave the IOC. Immediately form a Gapes of The New Emerging Forces: Ganefo. Namely, a combination of Asian countries, Africa, Latin America, and socialist countries. .

Soekarno's desire to hold a rival Olympics is not easy. Criticism and criticism arose everywhere. Bung Karno's desire was considered too grandiose in the midst of many Indonesians who were trapped in poverty.

Many have revealed that Bung Karno's plan is nothing more than a waste. Instead of using a lot of state money, the lack of funds is actually covered by the emergence of assistance from various countries.

All Indonesians who had criticized took part in the group helping to patch funds for Ganefo. Everything is for the pride of the nation. Bung Karno also believes Ganefo can be successful. This condition is because Indonesia already has a sports complex in Senayan, Jakarta.

The brilliant result of Ganefo which took place from 10-22 November 1963 was opened by Bung Karno at the Senayan Main Stadium (now: Gelora Bung Karno Stadium) on 10 November 1963. The opening ceremony was witnessed by 100 thousand people.

They came as a form of pride for Indonesia to be able to hold a sports celebration which was attended by 51 countries with a total of 2,700 athletes spread across Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Africa. As a result, China won first place, the second-ranked Soviet Union, the United Arab Republic (Egypt & Syria) was ranked third, and Indonesia was ranked fourth.

The Olympics are working. The echo matches the Olympics made by the IOC everywhere. The IOC itself is like a beard fire. Ganefo was later dubbed the Left Olympics, while the Olympics are commonly called the Right Olympics.

Ganefo did not last long. However, this is proof that the dual status of the IOC can trigger resistance. In fact, it has the potential to defeat existing sporting events.

The most luxurious activities were the implementation of the 1962 Asian Games and the 1963 Ganefo. This activity provided a new forum for Soekarno to make a speech, at the very large Senayan stadium, he was able to play with the emotions of 100 thousand people. The people's outburst of emotion was first directed at hatred against the Dutch, then at the British and Malaysian Governments, which was followed by the burning of the British Embassy in 1963," wrote Susan Blackburn in Jakarta: 400 Years History (2011).
