The Honda Brio Car Belonging To A Contractor From Surabaya Was Hit By A Tree At The Jakut City Government Office Courtyard

JAKARTA - Two banyan trees with a height of about 20 meters in the yard of Balai Yos Sudarso, the North Jakarta City Government office collapsed after being hit by strong winds on Friday, October 24, 2025. As a result, a Honda Brio car was crushed by a large tree trunk.

The incident occurred when heavy rain accompanied by strong winds hit the North Jakarta area, Friday afternoon, October 24.

The two banyan trees are in the car park in front of Yos Sudarso's hall, the North Jakarta City Government. The silver Honda Brio with the number plate S 1165 JN is known to belong to Surya, a young contractor from Surabaya.

"Earlier, 20 minutes before the incident I was in the car, then moved into buying coffee. As soon as 20 minutes came out, the tree fell immediately," Surya told VOI at the scene.

Surya said the incident occurred at around 14.30 WIB. He admitted that there had been an accountability statement from the North Jakarta City Government regarding the damage to his car due to being hit by a tree.

"We are discussing with the general head, we are assisted to get compensation from the Parks. The Parks want to be responsible," he said.

Surya estimates that the total loss suffered by him is more than IDR 50 million.

"Fortunately the engine was not hit, only the roof was crushed. I don't know if the chassis hit or not," he said.

Head of North Jakarta City Parks and Forest Sub-dept., Christian confirmed the incident.

"The general section has been taken care of to the Office. Tree insurance is taken care of by the Parks Service," he said when confirmed.
