Ponorogo Kejari Auctions 11 Tourism Buses Former Principal Of SMK PGRI 2 Suspects Of Corruption In BOS Funds

PONOROGO - Ponorogo District Attorney (Kejari) will auction off dozens of vehicles belonging to the former Head of SMK PGRI 2 Ponorogo, Syamhudi Arifin (SA), the defendant in the alleged misappropriation of School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds.

Head of the Intelligence Section of the Ponorogo Kejari Agung Riyadi, Thursday, said that the Public Prosecutor (JPU) in a follow-up trial at the Surabaya Corruption Court (Tipikor), charged the defendant with a prison sentence of 14 years and 6 months and paid compensation of Rp. 25 billion.

"Of the total Rp25 billion, the defendant has only returned around Rp3 billion. There are still around Rp22 billion to be paid," Agung said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 23.

He explained that the replacement money must be submitted no later than one month after the decision has permanent legal force.

If not fulfilled, the defendant will be sentenced to an additional seven years in prison.

"Evidence in the form of buses and cars will soon be auctioned to cover state losses. If the results are not sufficient, we will trace and confiscate other assets belonging to the defendant," he said.

According to Agung, the assets ready to be auctioned consist of 11 tourism buses and four luxury cars that were allegedly purchased from the misappropriation of BOS funds between 2019 and 2024.

"There is a vehicle in the name of the defendant directly, and some of it uses the name of another person. In addition to replacement money, the defendant is also required to pay a fine of Rp. 500 million, a subsidiary of six months in prison," he added.
