In Front Of Prabowo, The President Of Brazil Expressed His Intention To Run For The Fourth Period Of Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Brazilian President Luiz In Julidcio Lula da Silva when revealing his intention to run again in the presidential election (pilpres) in Brazil in 2026.

If Lula is re-elected then he will become President of Brazil for the 4th term of office.

Lula served as President of Brazil's 35th for two consecutive terms between 2003 and 2011, then was re-elected as President of Brazil's 39th on January 1, 2023 to 2026.

"My current term of office will only end at the end of 2026, but I am ready to run again and ensure that relations between Indonesia and Brazil become a strong, dignified, and valuable relationship. I want more Brazilian entrepreneurs to come to Indonesia, invest here, and vice versa, Indonesian entrepreneurs invest in BraSil," said President Lula when delivering a joint statement after chairing a bilateral meeting with President Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 23.

Lula explained that fair trade relations are both profitable and balanced.

President Lula also expressed his optimism that Indonesia and Brazil could become a great country as they aspired together.

"I want to say Brazil and Indonesia will be as big as we want. Our political and economic conditions demand that we discuss the similarities between the two countries so that our relationship in the fields of trade, science, technology, culture, and politics can continue to grow. We want to be more independent, not depending on one country alone. Indonesia and Brazil do not want a second cold war. We want free trade, "said President Lula.

Meanwhile, President Prabowo stated that Indonesia and Brazil are two powers in the southern hemisphere (Global South) and the main strength of the developing countries.

"We are two powers of Global South, therefore the cooperation between Indonesia and Brazil has a strategic meaning, and we both see this relationship as very important. This relationship, we are determined, after we discuss intensively, we want to strengthen and continue to improve relations in all fields," said President Prabowo.
